Measurement Methodology


Precise levelling is conducted to carry height from the southern plains of Nepal to the selected control points.


Trignometrical levelling is performed from selected control points(points to which height is carried by precise levelling).


Gravity survey will be conducted to define the local geoid around the


GNSS based survey is conducted for determining locations of gravity points, bench marks as well as top of Sagarmatha.


Summit Observation


The team of surveyor from Survey Department conducted successfuly on 22 of May at 3 00 AM. The team conducted GNSS observation for 1 hour 16 minutes and also Ground Penetrating Radar for snow depth observation.

Technical Support


Survey Department received technical equipments from Trimble Company that will support in Mt. Everest Height Measurement Program. Official handover ceremony was organized at the Survey Department on 7th of Februrary, 2019.

Consultation Workshop


Consultation Workshop for finalizing the methodology developed by Survey Department was conducted on 11-12 December 2017. The workshop finalized the working methodology of the everest heith measurement

Consultation workshop conducted to finalize the working methodology.
Reconaissance Survey
Preliminary reconaissance completed at different Sagarmatha peak observation stations : Sollung; Chhulyamu; Pike (Sub) HS; Pataale; Rauje; Lower Rauje; Aiselukharka; Takshindu; Laure Danda; Mayum
Quick reconaissance survey of Bench Marks along the Sagarmatha Highway from Mirchaiya to Katari has been completed.
Precise Levelling Survey
Monumentation works completed in 156.5 Km. Observation completed in 169.7 Km which includes 169 points : 1 datum station at Madar; 43 Special Permanent Bench Marks(PBMs) and 125 Permanent Bench Marks(PBMs) in 2074/75. Monumentation of 77 kilometer leveling network is completed in this fiscal year 2075/76. Observation is scheduled for Falgun of this year.
GNSS Survey
GNSS field survey conducted at 102 points: 48 Gravity Points; 1 Connecting Point; 47 Levelling Points and 6 Control Points of National Control Network in 2074/75. Field survey for 2075/76 has started and conducted GNSS survey at 129 points.
Gravity Survey
Monumentation of 48 gravity points was completed in last fiscal year 2074/75. In 2075/75, monumentation of 54 gravity points has been completed
